What happens in a brand identity project

A brand identity project with me runs in 5 steps, a call, a fixed proposal, the mark, the type and colour system, then guidelines and assets delivered with notes on how to use them.

The 5 steps

The call

A free 20 minute call on your brand. You leave with 3 fixes you can use whether or not you hire me.

A fixed proposal

The same day, a proposal with the scope, the timeline and a fixed price in writing. The work starts once the first half is paid.

The mark

I start with the mark, because everything else follows it. SyncGrid's arcs stand for data streams coming together, and CargoShift's squares are boxes in motion.

Type and colour

Then the typeface and the palette. Pulse pairs Neue Montreal, chosen for clarity on screens, with a volt on midnight palette.

Guidelines and assets

Last come the guidelines that show your team how to use it all, and the assets for web, decks and social. Delivery comes with short notes on how to use each file.

How long it takes

About 2 to 3 weeks for a full identity. The brand identity timeline guide explains what speeds it up.

See the steps on a real case

Each of my brand cases shows these steps as 3 design decisions. The SyncGrid brand identity is a good one to start with, and my brand identity page lists everything I design.
